Orphanage for 500 kids inaugurated in Kashmir
Srinagar, Mar 23: First major orphanage in the Kashmir valley, to shelter nearly 500 children who lost their parents in about two-decade long violence, was inaugurated by Minister for Transport and Public Grievances Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen.
The orphanage (Government Markazi Falahi Itiphal), inaugurated yesterday, has been built at an estimated cost of Rs one crore, an official spokesman said. He said the orphanage will provide round the year boarding and lodging to the inmates with free education facilities.
There are dozens of other NGOs working in different parts of the valley for orphans and widows.
