Youth confined in latrine for 14 long years

Kendrapara, Mar 21: Believe it or not a 34 year old man has been confined to a six by six foot latrine by his family members and living in a most inhuman condition for the last 14 years in a village of the district. Bikash Mohanty, son of Baman Charan Mohanty, a retired collectorate staff is confined to a latrine in Kapaleswar village, about 100 metres away from Kendrapara District Magistrate's residence.

Reports said Bikash developed insanity while studying plus three in nearby Nikirai college and started attacking the villagers. His father unable to provide a square meal daily to his seven member family failed to give proper treatment to his son. Finding no other way his family members confined him in the latrine. He is living in the room since then. Bikash eats, baths and defecates in the same room and live there.

Due to the long confinement in the tiny room and lack of treatment he could not able to talk and walk properly.

Later, the family members tried to provide medical treatment at SCB Medical College, Cuttack and they had also taken him to a person practicing black magic but failed to cure his son, said Manjulata the mother of Bikash.
