K'taka: 2 drowned in Tungabadra river

Davanagere, Mar 21: Two youths, including a teenaged boy from Delhi, drowned in Tungabhadra river near Harihara, about 20 km from here today.
Police Inspector Vijayakumar Santosh told the sources that the accident occurred when four youths went for a bath in the river.

Gopi (16) slipped and fell into the waters and was pulled away in the current. Kishore (25) who went to Gopi's rescue also drowned. However, a fisherman saved one of them Gautam while the fourth person swam to safety.

All the four were said to be street vendors from Delhi. Police later recovered the bodies of the two victims with the help of local fishermen.
Senior Police officials also visited the spot.
