New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) Congress General Secretary and scion of Nehru-Gandhi Family Rahul Gandhi has highly impressed former British Prime Minister Tony Blair who showered lavish praise terming Rahul as the ''most talented, able and insightful of the younger generation of politician worldwide.'' Mr Blair and Mr Gandhi met to discuss party reforms with the former Prime Minister sharing his experience of undertaking reforms in the Labour Party.
When asked if Rahul Gandhi impresses him as the next Prime Minister of India, Mr Blair said of the many young politicians he has met around the world Rahul stood out.
''He has got a first class mind and great commitment to India... And you know he is one of those politicians that can take a step back and look at what I call the big picture, and he is definitely someone who does that.'' ''I think he is one of the most talented, able and insightful of the younger generations of politicians worldwide, but, how he ends up in your politics again, that is for you, for him and for his party to decide. But I think he has got first class mind and a great commitment to India,'' Mr Blair told CNN IBN in an interview.
Defending China over protests in Tibet over cultural and religious autonomy and a 'destabilising' influx of Han Chinese, he said ''I want calm. I want an end of this violence and what the international community wants, including the British Prime Minister and Chinese Premier Wen and I hope that the situation resolves now.'' Mr Blair strongly backed the Indo-US nuclear deal and nuclear energy saying ''I don't think we have a choice but to make nuclear energy a part of the equation ...necessary for climate change and energy security.
