People's Rights Fed wants CBI probe against 2 ministers

Puducherry,Mar 21: The Federation for People's Rights here today demanded that the cases against Health Minister E Valsaraj and Education Minister M O H F Shajahan must be referred to the CBI.

In a statement, Federation Secretary G Sugumaran pointed out that as the Puducherry government was supporting the ministers, a free and fair enquiry by the police here would not be possible.

He demanded that since, the cases were registered against the ministers on directions from court, the Lt Governor and the Chief Minister should take necessary steps to remove the two from the cabinet before March 25 to safeguard the decorum of the Assembly, which is to convene for the budget session on that day.

Mr Sugumaran said the Federation would also submit complaints against the ruling Congress government here for allegedly not taking action against the two ministers, to AICC with evidence.

The complaints would be submitted to AICC President Ms Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Shivaraj Patil soon.
