MSEDCL's decision to hike rates will affect Industries
Kolhapur, Mar 21 (UNI) Maharashtra State Electricity Consumer Sanghatana (MSECS) Secretary Pratap Hogade today said the MSEDCL's proposal to hike rates of electricity used for industrial purpose will adversely affect the state's industrial sector.
Addressing a press conference, Mr Hogade, who is also a Janata Dal leader, said Rs 2,752 crore burden out of the total demand of Rs 3,319 crore will be on high power pressure industrial consumers, while the remaining Rs 218 crore will be on low-pressure consumers.
This means there will be about 90 per cent burden on industry, he pointed out and appealed to industrial consumers to file their opposition with the regulatory body to press the state government to cancel the proposal.
There will be a burden of Rs 277 crore burden on domestic consumers and Rs 144 crore on traders, he added.
