Bhubaneswar, Mar 21: The Orissa Government has decided to set up an ultra modern marine aquarium at Puri at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crore. Different types of fish available in various parts of the globe would be collected and kept in the aquarium.

Sources here said the Orissa Tourism Development Corporation(OTDC) would be the implementing agency for the project. The Paradeep Port Trust(PPT) would provide all sorts of technical assistance for setting up the aquarium. The PPT has already submitted a Detail Project Report(DPR) for the aquarium to the State Government. As per the report, around Rs 3 crore would be spent for the construction of the aquarium. The State Government would make provision for the project in 2008-09 budget. After the completion of the construction, the management of the aquarium would be handed over to an expert agency.

The management responsibility would be handed over to the Orissa Tourism Development Corporation after it gained enough experience, the sources said.
