About 10,000 being recruited in police: DGP

Srinagar, Mar 21: To strengthen the police force in Jammu and Kashmir, the Director General of Police (DGP) has recommended to government opening of about 300 police stations and appointment of 10,000 youths in the force, including about 3400 for Railway protection.

The state government has increased ration money allowance of non-gazetted police personnel from Rs 450 to Rs 600 per month, DGP Kuldeep Khoda has said.

He said that creation of 3334 posts for Railway Security is also under way and the government has already given nod to the proposal, which is currently under consideration of the Railway Board.

Mr Khoda said that the working of armourers in various units was streamlined to provide service of trained police personnel in each unit.

He said he has recently issued orders in respect of 285 armourers.

In Photography cadre of Police, he said that matter for up-gradation of 25 posts of Head Constable, working on the post for the past 20 years, was taken up with the government to facilitate their promotion to next grade as Assistant sub-inspectors.

He said to fill-up vacant posts of Inspectors in Auxilriary Police ''one time relaxation'' was extended and accordingly promotions in respect of six Sub Inspectors of Auxilriary police were issued and further orders for promotion of ASI's to Sub Inspectors are being issued.

Mr Khoda said out of turn promotions in respect of 34 personnel were granted which include 32 constables, one each HC and follower.

Director General of Police stated that augmentation of CID wing about 3470 posts are being created.

Regarding traffic Police, he said that 1496 posts for re- organisation of this wing of the police are being added for which the proposal has already been okayed by the State Finance Department and final orders are awaited.

He said that 17 Sub- Divisions, 50 Police Stations and 206 Police Posts are being created and sanction of 4191 posts for new and existing stations is being sought.

Mr Khoda also distributed cheques worth Rs 25 lakhs to all District SPs of Kashmir division for doing good work during the past three months.
