NPPL to commission the first phase of its Meramunduli plant by2012
Anugul,Mar 20 (UNI)Private sector Navabharat Power Private Limited(NPPL) is all set to commission the first phase of its Thermal Power Plant at Meramunduli about 25 km from here by the end of current five year plan (2011-12).
NPPL Vice President M. Tirumal Srinibash said as per the agreement signed with the state government in 2006 the company would generate 1040 MW in the first phase from its Mahlaxmi Thermal Power Plant. The plant with a capacity to generate 2040MW is the second power plant of the company after the 540 Mw plant at Nellore.
Mr Srinibas said the company would meet 80 per cent of its fund requirement from borrowing.
He said the construction work of the plant would start in October after land was handed over to it..
The company required about 1200 acre out of which only 100 acre was government land and the rest were tenancy land belonging to nine villages under Dhenkanal tehsil.
Mr Srinibas said Mahandi Coalfield Ltd had issued a letter of assurances to provide 2.4 million tonne coal from its Talcher Coalfield. Similarly 42cusecs of water from river Brahmani also had also been cleared.
As per the power purchase agreement with Grid Corporation of Orissa it would evacuate 25 per cent of generated power to GridCo through nearest Grid.
