Burglars escape with booty from locked house

Virudhunagar, Mar 20: Unidentified burglars entered the house of a retired school headmaster at State Bank colony here and robbed Golden ornaments weighing 32 sovereigns and Rs 6,500.

Police said the robbery was noticed only yesterday, when Mr Narayanan after returning to his house from his son's residence in Chennai, found the door of the house broken.

Based on a complaint, senior police officials and a finger-print expert rushed to the spot and held inquiries.

Investigation was underway, police added.
