3 Armymen dead, 2 injured in blast during field exercise
Jaisalmer, Mar 20 (UNI) Three army personnel died and two others were injured in a gun blast during the Army and Air Force combined field exercise in the Pokaran Field Firing Range in this district yesterday, police today said.
The mishap occurred during the concluding show when the barrel of a 186MM Heavy Mortar gun burst accidentally.
Police said three persons--1861 Light Regiment's Nayak Sanjay Kumar, Havildar Mangu Lal and Gunner Ram Nehar lost their lives while two Nayak Subedar Kulwant Singh and Bhaskar sustained grave injuries.
A high level inquiry had been ordered in the mishap, police added.
