HC stays name change of Kargil martyr's memmorial park

Lucknow, Mar 19 (UNI) The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court today stayed the renaming of 'Svaran Jayanti Smriti Upvan,' established in the memmory of Kargil martyrs, here.

Justices Pradeep Kant and S N Shukla passed this order on a PIL filed by Ashok Yadav Dev.

In 1999, this memmorial park was established at 101 acre land on Lucknow-Kanpur road.

On July 10, 1999, the bereaved family members had also planted saplings in the park.

The petitioner said on the orders of the state government, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) was earlier changing its name to 'Manyavar Kanshiram Smriti Upvan' and was now deciding to christen it as 'Baudh Vihar Smriti Upvan.' UNI XC-JAS ATI AKJ KN1737
