Fire in garment unit, clothes worth Rs 1 cr gutted

Karur, Mar 19: More than Rs one crore worth of finished clothes meant for export were gutted in a fire at a private textile export unit here yesterday.

Police said two employees of the unit, Prabakaran (27) of Vangal and Senthilkumar (28) of Karur, suffered burns when they tried to protect the bundles of clothes from being gutted.

They were admitted to a private hospital here.

Fire tenders from Karur and Pugalur rushed to the spot and put out the fire, police added.
