Bomb scare at U T Civil Secretariat hoax

Chandigarh, Mar 19 (UNI) Panic gripped the Union Territory Civil Secretariat here today following a hoax call that a bomb had been planted in the secretariat building.

The anonymous telephone call later turned out to be hoax as no bomb was found during the three and half hours search of the building with the help of sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squads, officials said.

The entire six-storey building was immediately evacuated on receiving the hoax call around noon.

Police immediately cordoned off the building complex and launched a massive search operation invloving about 100 policemen. Fire tenders were kept ready to meet any eventuality.

However, no bomb was found during the search and the secretariat work resumed later as usual.
