2 employees of ZP suspended over misappropriation in medicine

Kolhapur, Mar 19 (UNI) The Zilla Parishad suspended two employees of the health department and sent a health officer on compulsory leave in connection with misappropriation in medicine to the tune of Rs 1.36 lakh.

The suspended employees, Mr Kurne and Mr Sonawane, were working at the Zilla Parishad medicine department's godown section, informed the Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad here today.

A three-member committee will conduct the inquiry in the medicine misappropriation and the Health Officer T A More has been sent to a compulsory leave till the committee submits its report, he said.

The misappropriatison was discovered when 52 different types of outdated medicines were destroyed over the last couple of years without any proper record or knowledge of state government officials. As per the rule, the Parishad is supposed to present report on the same every six months to the state government.

Meanwhile, the State Health Minister has asked a detailed report from the Zilla Parishad administration on the outdated and the destroyed medicine stocks, Zilla Parishad sources said.
