UPA, YSR govts blamed for price rise
Hyderabad, Mar 18 (UNI) Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu today alleged that the price of essential commodities and construction materials had skyrocketed due to the 'wrong' policies of the UPA government at the Centre and the state government.
Addresssing a press conference here, he alleged that both the Union and the state governments had totally failed to control the price of essential commodities, affecting common people.
He claimed that the fruits of economic reforms were not reaching the poor, but confined to the rich only.
Mr Naidu said the price rise of essential commodities would be discussed at the UNPA meeting, scheduled to be held tomorrow and would resort to agitation to create an awareness among the people.
He claimed that the cost of construction materials like steel, cement, bricks and sand had increased manifold, besides increase in land value which prevented the common man from purchasing or constructing house.
Mr Naidu alleged that in view of the shortage in production of foodgrains, the country would face food scarcity in future and the Governments had not taken any step to increase agricultural production as they had not given priority to the sector.
The TDP chief claimed that due to lack of proper mining policy, the mineral wealth of the country was being exploited by some vested interests, which was not benefitting both the government and the consumer.
