Rupee gains at 40.6350/6450 per USD

Mumbai, Mar 18: The Rupee today gained about nine paise at 40.6350/6450 against US Dollar from its previous close of 40.72/73 per dollar amidst bouts of early volatility in the early trade.

The local currency strengthened in the opening trade on fresh inflows in the fairly active inter bank foreign exchange (Forex) market. Moreover, the rupee was trading in a range-bounded gap of about four to five paise after touching a high of 40.60 per dollar, dealers said.
