Punjab Assembly for naming airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh
Chandigarh, Mar 18 (UNI) The Punjab Assembly today passed a resolution asking the Centre to name the international airport proposed to be set up near Chandigarh-Mohali as 'Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh International Airport'.
The resolution moved by Capt Balbir Singh Baath (SAD) was adopted by the House by voice vote after members from both the Treasury and Opposition benches expressed their support for the resolution.
The resolution called upon the state government to take up this matter with the Central government.
Moving the resolution, Capt Baath recalled the unparalleled sacrifice of Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh.
The resolution also called for renaming the Raja Sansi Internaional Airport at Amritsar as Sri Guru Ram Dass International Airport, after the founder of the holy city.
