Peseyie re-elected Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly

Kohima, Mar 18 (UNI) Mr Kiyanilie Peseyie was today re-elected Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker for the second consecutive term defeating opponent T Sentichuba of the Congress.

The first session of the 11th Nagaland Assembly began here as the Budget Session, with the oath of affirmation to the newly elected 60 members of the House. The oath was administered by Pro-tem Speaker Neikiesalie Nicky Kire.

Later, the Pro-tem Speaker announced the names of two aspirants for the post of Speaker. While the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) fielded Mr Peseyie, the Congress fielded Mr Sentichuba.

Dr Kire also announced that the election would be done by secret ballots. Mr Peseyie got 35 votes against 21 of Mr Sentichuba. Four votes were found invalid.
