AP CM inaugurates Guthpa Lift Irrigation Scheme

Nizamabad, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 18 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajashekhara Reddy today inaugurated the Guthpa Lift Irrigation Scheme, which will provide immediate relief to the drought-prone areas near Nandipet Mandal and Nizamabad district.

The scheme, conceived to irrigate 15,700 hectares by lift-cum-irrigation canal, was envisaged to lift water from the foreshore of Sri Rama Sagar Project and bring 38,700 acres of land under irrigation.

The scheme would thus help in bringing relief to the drought-affected people of Ummed Village, Nandipet Mandal and Nizamabad.

The scheme was successfully implemented by Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL), the largest pump manufacturer and turnkey contractor in the country, which was responsible for complete System Engineering, including Design, Engineering, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Electro-Mechanical package.
