Rajya Sabha wants govt intervention to save Sarabjit
New Delhi, Mar 17 (UNI) Rajya Sabha Members today urged the Government to intervene to save Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh facing death sentence in Pakistan.
Raising the issue in the Rajya Sabha during the Zero Hour, Ms Brinda Karat of the CPI(M) said the family of the prisoner here was in great plight, suffering from both emotional and financial distress.
The two daughters were facing great economic difficulty in pursuing their studies, she said.
She said the Government should take up the matter with the new government of Pakistan to save Sarabjit.
All other members of the House supported her demand.
