Chandigarh, Mar 17 (UNI) India can play an important role in strengthening cooperation among the Central Asian countries in various fields like industries and commerce.
This was stated by Haryana Governor Dr A R Kidwai while delivering his valedictory address at the concluding session of the three-day international conference on "Cooperative Development and Peace in Central Asia: An Indian Perspective" held at the Centre of Research for Rural and Industrial Development (CRRID) here today.
While addressing the gathering which included large number of intellectuals from the Central Asian countries and the top Indian universities, Mr Kidwai said, "From economic and social point of view India has long contacts with the countries of the Central Asia.
Our country could collaborate in energy, information technology, pharmaceutical and other technological sectors which are useful for middle and medium industrial ventures." "In the fields of information technology and pharmaceutical sector India occupies a leading position in the world. India has also a vast potential and economic strength for development in the areas of business, trade and industry, he said, adding that "If the Central Asian countries collaborate with each other, unprecedented mutual industrial progress could be achieved in the region."
