Birla Cellulose invests Rs 1 cr in zinc-free fibre for WIFW

New Delhi, Mar 17 (UNI) Birla Cellulose, an enterprise of Aditya Birla Group, said it has launched 'zinc-free' fibres in the ongoing Wills India Fashion Week with an investment of Rs 1 crore.

''This investment has been made for this week (during WIFW) and the fibre is the first in the world to be patented,'' Sr Vice President (Strategic Marketing) Birla Cellulose, Manohar Samuel said.

He added that the company's fibre business has 23 per cent market share globally and generated a revenue of two billion dollars last fiscal.

The company has plants in Thailand, Indonesia, China and Laos besides India. The three plants in the country- Nagda in Madhya Pradesh, Harihar in Karnataka and Kharach in Gujarat, have a total capacity of 800 tonnes per day (TPD), the global capacity of plants being 1,600 TPD.

The company is associated with brands like Gap and Marks&Spencer and also designers like Rocky S, Naina Shah and Anita Dongre use Birla Cellulose's fibres.
