7 years imprisonment for bribery
Thrissur, Mar 17: A vigilance court here today sentenced former Assistant Secretary of the Thrissur Corporation S S Gopalakrishnan to seven years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 in a bribery case.
Vigilance Judge P Q Barkkathali also sentenced the convict to undergo three months rigorous imprisonment, if he failed to remit the fine. According to the prosecution, the accused had accepted Rs 1,000 as bribe from one Kalleriparmbil Abdhu Rehman, to change the single phase electric connection of his welding institution to three phase without following proper procedures.
