Mayor's husband atttacked in city outskirts

Kakinada, Mar 16 (UNI) Bhima Sankar (35) a Realtor and husband of Kakinada Mayor Kavikondala Saroja, has been rushed to a private hospital here in a critical condition, following an alleged attempt on his life, on the outskirts of the city today.

Police said two unidentified people came on a motorcycle and attacked Mr Sankar with knives, while he was inspecting some sites.

The passersby found him lying unconscious in a pool of blood with a cut in the throat and reported the matter to the police and the Mayor.

A police team rushed to the spot and made preliminary inquiries.

A case had been registered and investigation was, underway, police added.
