One killed, another injured in bridge collapse in north Bihar

Gopalganj, Mar 15 (UNI) One motorcyclist drowned and another was seriously injured when a bridge on the Khanua river collapsed at Vijaypur in the north Bihar district today.

District Magistrate Ramesh Lal said the duo fell into the river while they were crossing the bridge before it suddenly caved in.

Hearing the thud local people rushed to the spot and took both of them to a nearby hospital where one succumbed to his injuries.

Later, the people, angry over the poor condition of the bridge, gheraoed the block development office and the local police station demanding repair of the bridge. However, the blockade was lifted, following the intervention of senior district officials.
