Leading promoter killed in a shootout in Bihar

Hajipur, Mar 15 (UNI) A leading promoter of Saran district was shot dead and another seriously injured by a gang of armed miscreants following a dispute over business at Narsingh Ghat here today.

Police said the incident took place in the wake of long rivalry among different promoters over the price of sand when the supporter of one promoter shot dead one Mahabir Ray and injured his accomplice seriously.

The assailants fled immediately after the incident.

While Mr Ray died on the spot, the other person was admitted to a local hospital in a serious condition, police said.

Though an FIR had been lodged in the local police station against ten people, none had so far been arrested.
