Farmers wing of TN Cong thanked Rahul Gandhi

Tiruchirapalli, Mar 15 (UNI) The Tiruchirapalli district farmers wing of the Tamil Nadu Congress thanked Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi for appealing to the Centre to remove the conditions on availing concession of farm loan waiver announced in the Union Budget.

Mr Gandhi had appealed to the Centre that those farmers owning more than two hectares of land should also be brought under the beneficiary scheme.

In a statement here today, farmers wing President Puliyur A Nagarajan said Mr Gandhi in his speech in the Lok Sabha during budget debate had also voiced for the cause of affected farmers that the Government should extend the time limit for availing the loan waiver concessions.

Mr Gandhi also wanted that the deadline of June 30, 2008 for availing the concessions should be removed as it was not practically possible for the famers to avail the concessions.
