CPI decry US interference in India's internal affairs

New Delhi, Mar 14: Mr Gurudas Dasgupta (CPI) today condemned the US interference in the internal affairs of India by releasing a report on the human rights violations in Nandigram, West Bengal. Raising the issue during zero hour, he said the Bush administration report had maintained that there has been a breakdown of law and order in West Bengal as the state government failed to restrain its cadre to carry out a carnage.

The House may have a different perception on the issue but anything happening in India was a matter that had to be dealt by the State government, Centre and Parliament, not the US, he said and urged the House to join him in condemning the report. Speaker Somnath Chatterjee urged the member to ''ignore and treat it with the contempt it deserves.''
