Probe into tigress' death in MP
Bhopal, Mar 14 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Forests Minister Vijay Shah today ordered an inquiry, by a three-member committee comprising two Indian Forest Service officers and a vet, into the death of a white tigress at the local Van Vihar National Park and also directed removal of Park Director J S Chouhan.
Park sources said that the tigress Rashmi sustained a jaw injury in a fight with another white tigress Basni on March 9, when both accidentally came into a single enclosure, and died today though she was showing signs of improvement during treatment.
In October 2007 the Park's sole white tiger Ishu died and another tiger Gautam was claimed by bebesia. The Park now has two white tigresses and 14 tigers.
