Mehbooba on maiden visit Pakistan later this month

Srinagar, Mar 14 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti will attend the Pugwash conclave on ''Regional stability'' in Pakistan later this month.

This will be first visit to Pakistan by chief of PDP, a partner in the Congress-led coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir.

A PDP spokesman said she will be leaving for Pakistan to attend the two-day conclave from March 28 at Islamabad.

He said the proposed conclave would discuss problems of regional stability, initiatives that should be taken to promote peace and cooperation in the region, and make possible recommendations to the respective governments in this regard.

Focus of Mehbooba's presentation at the conference would be ''Prospects for Kashmir in Indo-Pak relations'', among other topics, to be discussed during the conclave.

She would give a detailed presentation of the party's Self-Rule proposals at the conference.

During her stay in Pakistan, she would be meeting a cross-section of leaders and civil society activists.
