Karnataka Governor launches e-stamping facility

Bangalore, Mar 14 (UNI) Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur today launched the state-of-the-art e-stamping facility, a web based application for paying stamp duty to the government, at a function here.

The facility would be intitially available to the public at sub registrar offices in the city on a pilot basis and would be extended to the state later, Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao said.

He said the government, in collaboration with Stock Holding Corporation of India (SCHI), was planning to roll out the facility across the state after completing the project for a period of three months in eight locations in the city.

The e-stamping facility was already being tried in Gujarat and Maharashtra since last year, he said.

SHCI Chairman and Managing Director R C Razdan said the e-stamping system was designed to do away with paper work and prevent process related fraudulent practices.

It offers a secure and reliable stamp duty collection mechanism, easy verification and generate online report for the government, he added.
