Former State Mayor selected for Bharat Jyoti Award

Dehra Dun, Mar 14 (UNI) Former state Mayor and Chairperson of Asian Council Mayors Manorama Sharma Dobriyal has been selected for the 'Bharat Jyoti Award'.

Ms Sharma's name has been selected by the jury for her contribution in the field of urban development, poverty alleviation and for representing India at the international forum.

The award will be presented at a conference on "Economic Growth and National Integration'' in New Delhi on March 28.

The award is presented by the India International Friendship Society and is given to few extraordinary men and women who have specialised in various fields.

Some of the past receipients of the award include beatified Mother Teresa, former Vice President B D Jatti and former Air Chief Marshal N C Suri.
