BJP Floor Leader suspended from AP Assembly

Hyderabad, Mar 14 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Floor Leader G Kishan Reddy was today suspended from the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for stalling the House proceedings over the Telangana issue.

The trouble started as soon as the House assembled for the day when Speaker K R Suresh Reddy disallowed an adjournment motion given notice of by the BJP on the issue.

The BJP Floor Leader was on his feet, demanding that the State Government introduce a resolution urging the Centre to carve out Telangana from Andhra Pradesh.

The Speaker made repeated appeals to the BJP member not to disrupt the House proceedings.

Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah said the BJP member was free to move a private member resolution, but it was not proper to put pressure on the Government by obstructing proceedings. As the BJP member continued his protest, the Speaker named him. Following this, Mr Rosaiah moved the resolution for his suspension, which was adopted by voice vote.

Earlier, the Speaker also disallowed the adjournment motions given notice of by the CPI and CPI(M) on the problems of tribals and by lone Janata Party member K Ramulu to make his home constituency of Metpalli a revenue division and on the need for setting up a degree college in his constituency.
