Yet another suicide in Kashmir, no impact of fatwa
Srinagar Mar 12 (UNI) A 13-year-old boy in south Kashmir committed suicide, the third such incident in the past one week.
Social activits, Muslim Ulmas and common people are concerned as there was no decline in suicide cases despite fatwa against taking such extreme steps in the valley.
Official sources said Zainul Abidin consumed some poisonous substance in his Ahgam Zachaldara house.
Family members immediately rushed him to hospital where he was declared brought dead.
During the past one week two persons committed suicide while a woman made an attempt in the valley.
One Sartaj Ahmad Wani died after he consumed some pisonous substance in his Sempora Pantha chowk house while Javid Ahmad Bhat hanged himself in a house at Lal Bazar.
A 40-year-old woman Tahira Begum made an attempt to end her life when she consumed some poisonous substance in her Sangri, Baramulla, house. A woman Razia Bano committed suicide in her house at Uri in north Kashmir.
The trend of committing suicide by people in Kashmir has not stopped even after a fatwa was issued by the muslim ulmas against taking such an extreme step.
They said it was an unislamic act and against the teachings of prophet Mohammed.
