RBI appeals not to use banknotes as decoratives

Mumbai, Mar 12 (UNI) The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today made a public appeal for not using banknotes for making garlands, decorating pandals and places of worship or for showering on personalities at social events.

The RBI stated that such actions deface the banknotes and shorten their life.

''We have been taking all measures to supply clean banknotes across the country'', the RBI said in a release here.
