Operations unaffected in HAL Bangalore airport
Bangalore, Mar 12 (UNI) Flight operations at HAL Bangalore airport remained unaffected today even as Airports Authority Employees Union (AAEU) struck work to protest the proposed closure of existing airports here and Hyderabad.
AAI Director Narendra Kaushal said the air traffic remained normal and the strike never impacted the services.
Most of the work was outsourced or taken care of by Air Force personnel, deployed as a precautionary measure, he said.
''All the flights arrived and departed as per the schedule,'' he said.
Operations like ATC, fire brigade and other ground works were done by the HAL staff.
The agitation was to protest against the proposed closure of HAL and Begumpet airports in Bangalore and Hyderabad respectively once the private-sector developed greenfield airports in these cities start operation.
CISF officials said no untoward incident was reported in the airport since midnight last night when the indefinite strike was launched.
About 60 members of the Airport Taxi Union supported the strike call given by the AAEU and did not operate their vehicles.
