MRPS leader continues indefinite hunger strike
Hyderabad, Mar 12 (UNI) Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) Founder Manda Krishna Madiga, who launched indefinite hunger strike yesterday evening, continued his agitation, protesting against the government's 'continued neglect' of the welfare of the physically challenged.
Even after State Welfare Secretary Aarti and officials concerned held talks with the MRPS leader on the demands, Mr Krishna, along with 100 physically challenged persons, was continuing the fast, asking the government to accept his demands.
Speaking to newspersons here, Mr Krishna said the Vikalangula Hakkula Porata Samithi (VHPS), which launched the agitation last November was demanding that the government increase disability pension from Rs 200 to Rs 1,500, depending on the degree of disability.
The 33 demands, including reservation in education and jobs, provision of more bus passes and identity cards, were put before the government.
