Farmers oppose steel factory in Sirmaur district of HP

Nahan, Mar 12 (UNI) Farmers of Johron village in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh has opposed the district administration's decision to set up a steel plant in the village.

In a representation to the Sirmuar Deputy Commissioner, the villagers alleged that the owner of the steel factory had constructed a building without receiving any approval from the Single Window of the Industries Department.

They alleged that the land transferred to the industrialist was to be used for agricultural purposes only, while the industrialist was setting up a steel factory against the Himachal Revenue Act.

Confirming that the villagers had approached him, Sirmuar district Deputy Commissioner Pushpendar Rajput said he has directed the Poanta Sahib SDM to verify the facts after visiting the spot and recording the statements of the local people.
