Kerala to appeal on HC observations in Kannur violence case
Kochi, Mar 11 (UNI) The Kerala Government will appeal against a single judge's observations today on the political violence in Kannur district, Advocate General C P Sudhakara Prasad said.
Mr Prasad told reporters here the government had decided to appeal to a division bench against the observations made by Judge V Ramkumar.
In a strongly-worded order, the judge observed that timely Central intervention, by deploying sufficient forces, appeared to be the only way to check the violence in Kannur.
While allowing a petition to hand over the investigation into the 2006 killing of one Mohd Fazal, in Thalasserry in Kannur, to the CBI, the judge said ''it is hoped that there will be a gubernatorial move to apprise the Central Government of the urgent need for a permanent action to curb further bloodshed and killings in Kannur district, where manslaughter is a competitive sport.''
