GMR gets MoCA nod to commence operation at new Hyderabad airport

New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) GMR Infrastructure Ltd today said its subsidiary GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), has received approval for commencing operations in Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad, Hyderabad from March this year.

''GHIAL-promoted Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on March 11, 2008 received a Gazette of India Notification issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) to commence operations from 0001 hours on March 16, 2008. The notification also confirms the closure of commercial operations at the existing Begumpet airport, Hyderabad from March 16, 2008,'' a company statement said.

This is in pursuance of clause 5.5 of the Concession Agreement signed between the Government of India and GHIAL on December 20, 2004, it added.

GHIAL has also received the additional clearances for operations of Fire Fighting Systems from the The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) along with consent for operations from the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB).

It has also received clearance for the airport as a notified customs zone.
