Agarwar family member denies allegations of dowry, molestation
Pune, Mar 11 (UNI) The brother of a leading city-based builder and hotelier Ram Kumar Agarwal today refuted allegations levelled against him, his son Ajay and other family members by his daughter-in-law Priya, a Dutch citizen, about dowry and molestation.
Talking to reporters here, B K Agarwal, brother of the main accused Ram Kumar said, ''Priya had made a typical fabricated case against my family to gain media attention to extort money from a high-profile family''.
He said she was always demanding and made Ajay buy expensive gifts for herself. He alleged that Priya hated Indians and Indianess. She always behaved in a high-handed manner and insulted Ajay and his family.
Mr Agarwal also alleged that she was so proud of being a Dutch citizen that she chose to live on a life-long visa, rather than apply for an Indian passport after the marriage.
Ajay and Priya, the daughter of Y K Bali, a Dutch national of Indian Origin, were married on January 29 last year. Last week, she registered a complaint with Band Garden Police Station accusing Ajay, Ram Kumar and two other family members of subjecting her to physical and mental torture for dowry.
Priya also accused her father-in-law of trying to outrage her modesty and mother-in-law of misappropriating her diamond jewellery.
All the four suspects, named by her, were booked under section of Dowry Prohibition Act. But they have been absconding since March 7.
