Shiv Sena demands complete loan waiver for farmers

Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) Demanding a complete loan waiver for the debt-ridden farmers irrespective of landholdings, Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray today said only a complete loan waiver could bring down the suicide rate among farmers.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Thackeray said after touring Vidarbha, Marathwada and Khandesh areas of Maharashtra, he discovered that there were many farmers reeling under absolute financial debt and they miss narrowly the landholdings or the loan limitations.

Asking all the political parties not to squabble over taking credit for the loan waiver, he appealed to them to make a concerted effort for waiving of loans.

Uddhav said he was awaiting the announcement of relief by the state government after the Centre sanctions the funds.
