Policemen assaulted, police look for youths

Puducherry, Mar 10: Police today registered a case and were on the look out for ten people who allegedly assaulted police personnel at a temple festival at Poornamkuppam, near here, late last night.

According to police, a '' music nite'' was organised at the Angala Parameswari Temple in connection with the 'Mayana Kolla' where a few youths began dancing in the midst of spectators.

When head constable Thamburan questioned them, he was assaulted by the youths.

Other police personnel who came to the rescue of Thamburan were also assaulted causing injuries to the head constable and Venkatesan of Indian Reserve Battalion. Both of them were treated at the Government General Hospital here.
