Hurriyat organises sit-in against HR violations in Kashmir
Srinagar, Mar 10 (UNI) Hurriyat Conference (Mirwaiz) today organised a ''sit-in'' near here in protest against alleged human rrights violations by the security forces in the Kashmir valley.
A number of senior leaders of Hurriyat Conference HC led by its acting chairman Moulana Abbas Ansari, Shabir Ahmad Shah and others joined the sit-in at Partap Park here.
In a statement, Mr Ansari said thousands of Kashmiris were languishing in different jails in and outside the state for years.
He said 178 Kashmiri youths, who were arrested without their involvement in any case, are in Delhi's Tihar jail for the past several years.
Mr Ansari said they were implicated in false cases as their only sin was that they belongs to Kashmir.
He said detainees are being tortured and denied basic requirements of life in these jails and interrogation centres.
The HC chairman has appealed to International Human Rights organisations to intervene and pressurise India to stop human rights violations.
