Father, son hacked to death by cousins in Chhotaudepur

Vadodara, Mar 10 (UNI) In a bizarre incident, a 52-year-old farmer and his son were brutally killed by their cousins for refusing to share the crop on a disputed piece of land of the family.

Members of the two families armed with bows and arrows and other sharp edged weapons clashed in Judavad village under tribal-dominated Chhotaudepur Taluka, yesterday after Bodia Rathwa and his 32-year-old son Ranthia started farming on the disputed land in the outskirts of their village, police said.

There was an altercation between Bodia and his cousin Hira Rathwa when the alleged accused demanded a share from the standing crop.

Bodia and his son were allegedly hacked to death by Hira and his son Kaju with a sackle following their refusal to share the crop, Hira was rushed to the SSG hospital here in a critical condition after being injured by four arrows on his chest, abdomen and right hand.

Hira's son Kaju, the prime accused in the double-murder case also sustained arrow injury and was arrested from his in-law's house along with the weapon used for the offence, police added.
