Nitish emphasies for martial art training to girls
Patna Mar 9 (UNI) In order to empower women, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said girls in the state will be trained in martial arts to counter eve-teasing.
Mr Kumar said here today that this would be a real gift to the women, who had to face a lot of trouble outside home. He said the girls would be taught judo and karate so that they can teach a lesson to the eve-teasers, who try to harass them. The state government had already provided bicycle to the girl students in the urban areas and the bicycles would be distributed soon in the rural areas.
Outlining the steps initiated by the NDA government for empowerment of women in the state, Mr Kumar said Bihar has become the first state to provide 50 percent reservation to the women in Panchayats adding that the women representatives in Panchayats and civic bodies have improved the quality of work.
He said the women were also given 50 percent reservation in the appointment of primary teachers.
