2 electrocuted during mass marriage arrangement

Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 9 (UNI) Two persons were electrocuted when they came into contact with a live high tension wire while installing a 30-foot high flex board near the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam's (TTD) Kalyanamastu venue where mass marriages were scheduled to be performed, in Karapa Village, in the wee hours today.

Thallarevu MLA D Venkateswerlu who was personally supervising the arrangements for the event at the venue immediately rushed the duo to the Apollo Hospitals where they were pronounced dead.

The MLA, who was dazed over the unforeseen development, suddenly fell ill with his BP coming down. He was admitted to the hospital.

The deceased was identified as T Prasad (26), the driver of the MLA and G Raju (30), a Congress worker from Pedakotthuru Village.

However, the mass marriages for 80 couples was performed as scheduled at the venue as per the Muhurtham fixed up by the TTD Vedic scholars.

The marriages were performed on a grand scale with over 20,000 people attending. A chartered helicopter hovered around the venue during the marriage time and showered petals on the couples.
