Jalandhar, Mar 8 (UNI) Lok Bhallai Party president Balwant Singh Ramoowalia has urged the Punjab Chief Minister to devote atleast three days in the ongoing Assembly session on the pitiable conditions of Punjabi women.

Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Ramoowalia said the state government must took notice of the plight of Punjabi women, who were being harassed by their NRI husbands and left to either fight cases in courts or to bring up children born out of the wedlock.

Mr Ramoowalia said the International Women's Day has no significance for such Punjabi women who were abondoned by their husbands for the want of more dowry.

He presented a woman before the media who is fighting a case against her husband, who abondened her after 15 days of their marriage for want of more dowry, another girls's father whose daughter had been cheated by a travel agent and disgraced in the foreign countries.

Mr Ramoowalia also requested the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court to help the distressed women by deciding their cases on the priority basis.

He said that neither any women leader, irrespective of political affiliations, has ever came forward to help such Punjabi women nor the state government had done anything for them so that they could also celebrate women's day with dignity.
