US embassy adjusts consular exchange rate
New Delhi, Mar 07 (UNI) The US Embassy has adjusted its consular exchange rate from Rs 40 a dollar to Rs 42 a dollar which will be effective from March 12, this year.
Accordingly all United States consular sections in India will adjust their consular exchange rates.
According to an US embassy release issued here today, this rate change is effective for all rupee denominated costs of applying for visas and passports, including the non-immigrant visa application fee paid at HDFC branch banks prior to the scheduling of visa appointments.
The new application fee for non-immigrant visas is Rs 5,502 (equivalent to 131 dollars ) .
Receipts issued by HDFC Bank prior to March 12, 2008 that reflect a payment of Rs 5240 will be honored, the release added.
